POLICY ON HOUSING ALLOWANCES FOR SENIOR-LEVEL ADMINISTRATORS
Section 1. Purpose
This policy shall govern the payment of housing allowances to senior-level administrators.
Section 2. Housing Allowances for the President and Chancellors
The University may provide a housing allowance to the President and Chancellors as part of their total compensation. The initial amount of the housing allowance shall be included in the offer of appointment and shall be approved by the Board of Trustees. Funding for housing allowances shall be from unrestricted educational and general funds.
The President and Chancellors shall be responsible for the maintenance, grounds keeping, and custodial costs associated with their personal residences. Use of University resources to fund the cost of events held at their personal residences is an acceptable use of funds if such expenditures are made in accordance with University policies and procedures.
Section 3. Housing Allowances for other Senior-Level Administrators
On rare occasions, the University may provide a short-term housing allowance to other senior-level system and campus administrators upon initial appointment. A request to provide a short-term housing allowance must be approved by the Chief Financial Officer before any representation or offer is made to the potential appointee.
Section 4. University-Owned Housing
Policies to govern the provision of University-owned housing to staff employees when necessary for the performance of their duties shall be established by campuses/institutes, subject to the approval of the Chief Financial Officer.
