ANIMALS IN RESEARCH

Effective Date: October 7, 1997

All research activities involving the use of animals by UT Memphis faculty, staff or students or with the use of UT Memphis facilities must be reviewed and approved by the UT Memphis Animal Care and Use Committee prior to initiation of the work, must be renewed at least annually, and must be conducted in accordance with University policy and procedures and applicable federal regulations, including the National Research Council’s Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.

Investigators should note that studies conducted by UT investigators at the VAMC or other off campus sites may require approval by the ACUCs at those sites in addition to the UT Memphis ACUC.
