Appendix F – Network DR Overview
Crisp is currently the hub for the entire campus. There is a 96-strand fiber running from 113 Crisp to 151 Brehm that is terminated. In an emergency situation, we would use Brehm as the hub for the campus by pulling all of the fiber from Crisp and splicing the needed number of fibers to each building to the 96- strand fiber located in Brehm. Once the fiber is spliced, a routing switch with a copy of the current production configuration will be used to route traffic for campus.
We would need an outside vendor to come and splice the fiber and also assist in the fiber optic identification, if needed. We currently have a contract vendor, INC, that would be able to perform these tasks in an emergency situation. INC keeps a stock of fiber optic splice enclosures and materials for emergency situations.
The ISP (Charter and/or Frontier) connections will also need to be spliced in order to provide internet access to the campus.
